As a result of the rapid development of information and communication technologies in the world, major and comprehensive changes and transformations are taking place in industrial and digital fields. These changes significantly affect the transportation sector and therefore the types of transportation. Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) are defined as a system that uses advanced technologies to improve road safety, develop traffic management and support all stakeholders (passengers, drivers and pedestrians). With the development of the Internet and wireless communication technologies, current studies are moving towards cooperation on the road and between transportation systems. Cooperative Intelligent Transportation Systems (C-ITS), one of the disruptive and innovative technologies, is based on the principle of having information about the vehicles and road infrastructure around the vehicle.
Intetra new generation intersection controller has incorporated the C-ITS approach into its vision and has advanced its studies in this direction. The developed device has been tested by establishing a connection with the Roadside Connector starting from the initial stages, and the necessary functionality studies have been carried out taking into account the two-way communication. Information on the intersection controller (such as remaining light times or alarm conditions…) is transmitted to the vehicles personally via the Roadside Connector. Vehicle classes and different data from vehicles are transmitted to the intersection control devices. As a result of these, it ensures that measures such as vehicle prioritization or structure change are taken.
